About the author and guides
Edward Eszlari
has been working in the Product Safety field for over twenty two years
investigating and certifying all types of products for highly respected
manufacturers of Information Technology, Audio and Video, Laboratory, Household
and Telecommunication Equipment. Edward started his career as a Technician
performing construction analysis on components such as transformers and ensuring
the trace to trace distance on printed circuit boards were compliant with the
testing standard.
Working his way up the ladder he learned to investigate, test and certify
products, which eventually earned him the titles of Senior Product Safety
Engineer and Technical Expert, thus gaining the respect of other Safety
Engineers in the industry. Being employed by a major European based Product
Safety Agency for much of this time, he was able to gather a great deal of
information about the standards and learned how these requirements were to be
applied to different types of products. With this knowledge in hand he was able
to create the guides that are now available at the Product Safety Zone making it
easy for manufacturers to bring their products to at least 90% compliant with
the standard with a minimal amount of effort and time which ends up saving the
manufacturer a great deal of money and gets the product to market quickly.
The Product Safety
Guides came about due to customers frequently calling the Safety Agency asking
many questions regarding the design of their product according to a particular
test standard. Because these phone calls were so frequent and repetitive,
Edward had an idea that would help the customer easily locate the answer to his
design questions ……create a guide that answered the questions that have been
asked, include design tips, and
outline the most important clauses within the test standard that applied to
most of the products that passed through the Safety Agency. The guide would
help two fold, free the Safety Engineers time so less time is spent on the
phone, and the products that will be submitted after the guides are applied to a
product will
be almost completely compliant, therefore helping the customer bring their product
to market faster. The guides were
meant to be as small as possible without omitting the important information, so
a survey was taken of some customers in order to determine the correct size of
a guide that will actually be read and understood.
Quite a bit of time was spent creating and updating the guides as you see them today and we can assure you that each guide will more than pay for itself with the first product you apply it to.
